The construction sector, including building construction, civil engineering and public works, is essential: housing, water, sanitation, energy, and transportation are crucial for individuals and collective life. The development depends on infrastructure and on housing. The SEFI is acting on public and private stakeholders for the needs of populations, either about the renovation of buildings and networks (grids, water, energy...) or the execution of new construction complying with the ecological transition constraints.
The SEFI defends and promotes such common interest values as ethics, environment and bio-diversity protection, social inclusiveness, gender equality, etc.
With respect to CSR (corporate social responsibility) and to the struggle against gender-based violence, the SEFI supports both the introduction and generalization of high and measurable standards in international tender processes, the consultation of businesses in their definition, the monitoring of their implementation, and the punishment of their violations.
The same goes for health and safety rules at work and for the fight against forced or child labor.
With respect to ethics, the SEFI advocates for the harmonization of compliance rules and their implementation and for the fight against active bribery, accompanied by effective prevention and repression of passive corruption.
