Présentation du SEFI

   SEFI OVERVIEW

SEFI (The French International Contractors) had 12 members: contractors in the construction and infrastructure sector, companies specialising in the supply of facilities and turnkey contracts, service concessionaries, etc. All these companies offer a wide range of activities from engineering to services, including construction/rehabilitation, financial and legal packaging, etc. The companies include : BOUYGUES CONSTRUCTION, COLAS, EIFFAGE, EUROVIA, RAZEL, SADE, SOLÉTANCHE-BACHY, SPIE, SPIE BATIGNOLLES, VEOLIA WATER SYSTEMS, VINCI CONCESSIONS and VINCI CONSTRUCTION.

The international turnover of the companies of SEFI represents a substantial percentage
of their overall revenue (37% in 2008), i.e. 27.9 billion Euros. This figure constitutes practically the entire international turnover of the sector. This figure makes French construction companies the World Leaders in their sector in terms of their international activities.

This volume of business, which has been achieved thanks to the multidisciplinary competence of our companies and their long-standing experience in foreign markets, gives SEFI a representative
quality that enables it to speak on behalf of the entire profession in the international arena.

SEFI’S MISSIONS ARE CONCENTRATED ON INTERNATIONAL TOPICS:

- it informs its members on international issues of common interest;
- it exchanges views with its members, sets up temporary working groups and issues proposals on matters of common interest relating to international trade;
- it presents its views to French and foreign public authorities, international financial institutions, professional associations in France and abroad and international organisations.

FOR EXAMPLE, SEFI HAS MADE ACONTRIBUTION ON THE FOLLOWING ISSUES:

- the promotion of French exports and the export credit financing system (simplification, improvement, public/private partnership);
- the effectiveness of official development assistance;
- the country systems for procurement and the model forms of international contracts;
- the new conditions of the competition (WTO, distortion of competition...);
- the rules to strengthen integrity and fight against corruption;
- the corporate social and environmental responsibility;
- the Public-Private Partnership projects and infrastructure concessions (keys principles, financial reporting standards);
- the “Contract Bond”, for contract security and transparency of procedures;
- its participation in the consultation processes of major international organisations such as the OECD (guiding principles and codes of conduct, the environment, etc.), the European authorities (the reform of public procurement, the environmental responsibility of companies, general interest services, Public-Private Partnerships, official development assistance, etc.), the WTO, the International Chamber of Commerce, the specialised institutions of the United Nations (UNCITRAL…), the World Bank Group, etc., either directly or in liaison with and through MEDEF (Mouvement des Entreprises de France), EIC (European International Contractors) and CICA (Confederation of International Contractors’ Associations).

SEFI's international activities were merged with european activities of the FNTP (Fédération Nationale des Travaux Publics) since May 2005, creating European International Committe / SEFI. SEFI is also a member of EIC (European International Contractors) and has links to FIEC (Fédération des Industries Européennes de la Construction). Furthermore, through some of its members, it has regular contact with other professional associations and organisations, in particular SYNTEC Ingénierie (Chambre Syndicale des Sociétés d’Etudes Techniques et d’Ingénierie), IGD (Institut de la Gestion Déléguée), IFEJI (Institut Français des Experts Juridiques Internationaux...
