Backed by a network of 1,200 profit centers in over forty countries on five continents, the Colas Group is a leader in the construction and maintenance of infrastructure for transport, urban development and leisure facilities.
Thanks to the know-how and skills of more than 56,000 men and women who work in the Group, each year Colas carries out 90,000 projects worldwide.
Colas also operates upstream, with wide-scale industrial activity including the production and recycling of materials (516 quarries, 165 emulsion plants, 570 asphalt plants).
While roads account for 82% of its business, the Group is also involved in other road-related sectors. Colas’ external growth policy aims to strengthen its network outside of France, control its aggregate resources and develop industrial activity.

 

- Construction and maintenance of road infrastructure (roads, highways, engineering structures, runways, airfield parking zones, platforms for industries, logistics units and ports, city streets, sidewalks, parking lots, reserved public transport lanes, leisure areas, sports surfaces, automobile racing circuits, etc.);
- Industrial production and recycling of construction materials (aggregates, emulsions, binders, asphalt mixes);
- Other activities: signs, signals, traffic management, civil engineering, pipes, electricity, waterproofing, building, railway works (trains, tramways), services and concessions.

- Quality and Environment (Environment Charter, continuous improvement, ISO 9000 certification for profit centers, ISO 14000 certification for industrial sites);
- Research and Development (designing innovative products and techniques pertaining to safety, quality, environmental protection, e.g., skid-resistant surfacing, noise barriers, material recycling processes, etc.);
- Health and Safety (Safety Charter, Safe Driving Charter, work accident and traffic accident prevention policies);
- Ethics (Business and Management Principles that define professional codes of practice);
- Employment and Training (3,500 newly-hired employees each year, training at Colas Campus and Colas Universities, support of local projects for development, integration, and training).

 

North America:
Colas is now a key player in North America’s road construction and maintenance market, with 13 subsidiaries (10 in the USA and 3 in Canada) that operate in 22 US States (East, Midwest, California and Alaska) along with 4 provinces and 2 territories in Canada.

Western and Northern Europe:
The Colas Group is present in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland and Switzerland, countries which remain a natural extension of the French market.

Central Europe:
In addition to its units in Germany and Austria, the Group has acquired a number of local companies in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Poland.

Africa/Indian Ocean:
Business for this zone can be broken down as follows: North Africa (mainly Morocco): road construction and industry; West Africa: large scale road projects with multilateral financing; Southern Africa: industrial activity; the Indian Ocean (Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros, Djibouti): road construction, building, sewerage and drainage projects.

Asia:
The Group circulates its technology and know-how by creating industrial units with local partners (Thailand, China, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam).
