Bouygues
Construction is built on a network of complementary entities: Bouygues
Bâtiment Ile-de-France, Bouygues Entreprises France-Europe,
Bouygues Bâtiment International, Bouygues Travaux Publics, VSL
and DTP Terrassement (which have been brought together to form a new
Specialist Civil Works division), a Concessions Division and ETDE. This
vast network of companies all operate in close proximity to their
customers and their markets, whether in France or around the world.

Protecting
the environment counts among the top priorities of Bouygues
Construction. Recent years have seen numerous pro-environmental
initiatives, and significant progress has been made in conserving the
natural habitat, integrating structures into their surroundings,
managing resources and recycling waste.
For example, construction of the A28 Rouen-Alençon motorway in
northern France is subject to stringent requirements for the protection
of wildlife, water and the countryside through which the motorway
passes. The use of Ductal® ultra high-strength concrete for the
motorway structures considerably reduces the thickness of the
structural elements, thereby decreasing their visual impact.
Bouygues Construction pays great attention to any nuisance that could
arise from its sites. Technical solutions have been deployed to limit
noise levels and to ensure that building sites remain clean, have low
visual impact on the surroundings and disturb local traffic as little
as possible. Waste management procedures have also been put into place.
In addition, Bouygues Construction is developing a specific activity
arising from environmental services. In the area of decontamination,
the Brézillon subsidiary has developed an original
physical-chemical process which has been used for treating of polluted
sand from the holed petrol tanker, Erika.
As environmental protection depends more than anything on people and
individual attitudes, training programmes have been organised seeking
to raise employees’ awareness of risks to the environment
entailed by construction work.
Bouygues Construction
has been established internationally for many years, and has performed
contracts in some 60 countries. Particularly active in Western and
Central Europe, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean, the company has
developed acknowledged expertise based on both technical and financial
innovation. Bouygues Construction’s business outside France has
grown by 75% since 1995. International expansion has been achieved by
managing major projects, forming partnerships with local companies and
establishing permanent local subsidiaries. In 2003, international
business accounted for 41% of the company's total sales.
